Reducing Sodium in our Prepared Foods

Nestlé USA has been steadily reducing sodium levels across brands, while simultaneously improving the nutritional and taste profiles of our products. Recently, we announced a commitment to decrease the sodium content in our products by another 10% by the year 2015. This initiative includes our STOUFFER’S®, LEAN CUISINE®, BUITONI®, HOT POCKETS® and LEAN POCKETS® brands, which will undergo gradual but steady recipe changes in order to bring down sodium levels without impacting taste.

Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

In Solon, Ohio, our Nestlé Prepared Foods factory, which produces LEAN CUISINE® and STOUFFER’S® products, has been using a boiler system that operates on methane gas emissions from a landfill since 2001. Approximately 90% of the plant’s energy needs are met with the methane, greatly reducing our greenhouse gas emissions.
