Nestlé USA supports the adoption of a fact-based front-of-pack
nutrition labeling system and will be implementing Facts Up Front. We
are committed to helping our consumers achieve a healthy diet and to reducing
obesity, and believe this is one tool to help busy consumers make informed
decisions. As a member of the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), we have
been working closely with other food companies and the FMI and their retailer
companies on this initiative.
The program will add important nutrition information on calories,
salt, sugar and saturated fat to the front of packages of many food and
beverage products. Facts Up Front can also include up to two other
nutrients to encourage, such as potassium, fiber, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin
D, calcium, iron or protein when a product meets a “good source of” threshold. The
information will be presented in a standardized, fact-based, simple and
easy-to-use format. We remain committed
to improving the nutritional profile of our products and helping people improve
their overall wellness by providing convenient, wholesome and delicious foods.
