Manufacturer marks launch of anniversary with a Multi- Million Dollar investment in its Cleveland facility

For six decades, MINOR’S® has been producing high quality bases and stock products that have been enjoyed by professional chefs and their delighted customers. From a humble beginning 60 years ago, MINOR’S® has evolved into an American success story as one man’s small idea turned into a multi-million dollar international foodservice giant.

MINOR’S® traces its roots to 1951, when Dr. L. J. Minor, a food scientist, created a bouillon powder for the United States Army. From there, Dr. Minor began the Cleveland–based L.J. Minor Company with $6,000 and a borrowed mixer. Dr. Minor’s innovations have made a major impact on the evolution of today’s foodservice industry as his commitment to culinary excellence drove his “By Chefs for Chefs” product development and sales strategies. He developed the first refrigerated meat-first, food base that is the category leader and most trusted brand by chefs. Through the years, MINOR’S® has continued to pioneer innovation in foodservice with products such as MINOR’S® All-Natural Bases, MINOR’S® Signature Flavor Concentrates, MINOR’S® Culinary Cream, MINOR’S® Dry Roux and their most recent product launch of frozen Mother Sauces.

Today MINOR’S®, part of Nestlé Professional, has over 140 culinary products in its portfolio and plays an integral role in their growth strategy. As Nestlé Professional’s premium brand, MINOR’S® is key in connecting Nestle Professional to operators. “When operators come to the Nestle Professional Customer Innovation Campus (NPCIC) and work with the MINOR’S® products they are astounded at the flavor impact such simple products can have on their operation. You can see the chefs’ minds start to work and how excited they are to go back and work with them in their kitchen,” says Greg Ische, Executive Chef and Manager of Business Development for MINOR’S®.

Nestlé Professional’s commitment to MINOR’S® is further evident as it prepares to expand its Cleveland manufacturing facility in late 2011. This multi-million dollar investment will expand the current facility by adding new advanced technologies and processes and continuing to provide jobs in the Cleveland area.

“This investment in our MINOR’S® Cleveland manufacturing plant demonstrates Nestlé’s commitment to the City of Cleveland,” says Perry Miele, Vice President and General Manager for Nestlé Professional™, North America- Food. “MINOR’S® has been and will continue to be devoted to the Cleveland community and a critical part of Nestlé Professional’s portfolio of premium brands and success.”

Nestlé Professional™ North America- Food, headquartered in Solon, Ohio at the Nestle Professional Customer Innovation Campus, employs over 1,000 employees and is solely focused and dedicated to the foodservice industry.
