  • Nestlé USA has joined the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) and the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) to introduce a new front-of-pack nutrition labeling system – Facts Up Front – to all food and beverage products across our portfolio. Facts Up Front features calories and nutrient-based labeling that displays important nutrition information from the Nutrition Facts Panel in a simple and easy-to-use format on the front of food and beverage packages.   • Nestlé in the United States has partnered with the National Education Association (NEA) to expand its nutrition and physical activity education resources for educators. The program, Healthy Steps for Healthy Lives®, provides free instructional materials that support educators’ efforts to teach students in grades K-6 about being healthy.
  • Nestlé USA will source 100% certified Nestlé Cocoa Plan cocoa beans for the entire line of everyday NESTLÉ® CRUNCH bars by the end of 2013. The Nestlé Cocoa Plan is our global initiative to help improve the lives of cocoa farmers and the quality of their products while also assuring a sustainable cocoa supply for years to come.
  • Nestlé USA is committed to responsible communication to consumers, including children. We are members of the Better Business Bureau’s Children’s Food and Beverage Advertising Initiative (CFBAI), and have implemented the global Nestlé Corporate Policy on Marketing Communication to Children. Nestlé USA is also a member of the Healthy Weight Commitment Foundation.
  • Nestlé USA is the first company in the United States to buy sustainable palm oil certified by The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil. In 2010, we formed a partnership with The Forest Trust (TFT) to define responsible sourcing guidelines to guide the Nestlé procurement process. Since our work on traceability began, we have directly engaged with suppliers responsible for 90% of our palm oil volume. We are committed to achieving 100% certified sustainable palm oil by 2013 – two years ahead of our initial commitment.
  • Nestlé USA has been steadily reducing sodium levels across brands, while simultaneously improving the nutritional and taste profiles of our products. Recently, we announced a commitment to decrease the sodium content in our products by another 10% by the year 2015. This initiative includes our STOUFFER’S® , LEAN CUISINE® , BUITONI®, HOT POCKETS® and LEAN POCKETS® brands, which will undergo gradual but steady recipe changes in order to bring down sodium levels without impacting taste.
