How Our Benefits Help Employees Thrive

Wellbeing looks different to everyone, whether it’s physical health, mental wellbeing, or the opportunity to pursue things that make you happy. We often talk about work-life balance, but we’re the same people whether we’re at home or at work. Health benefits should be holistic, flexible, and personalized to improve our wellbeing whoever and wherever we are.

That’s why at Nestlé in the U.S., we’re putting the power of health in our employees’ hands. Through the Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA), every eligible Nestlé employee receives $500 to spend on eligible expenses towards their wellness as they see fit – whether that’s fitness classes, spa days, club memberships, mindfulness or financial tracking resources. The money can be spent in one lump sum or spread across several purchases throughout the year. It’s a benefit that’s truly designed to be tailored to individual needs.

Thousands of employees have already taken advantage of the LSA in the first quarter of 2022. That spending has been diverse and exciting: we’ve heard from employees who’ve bought national park passes, walking shoes, and massages. Others have taken downhill ski classes, hired tax preparation services, or invested in TSA pre-check memberships to make flights less stressful.

We’re excited to add this personalized investment to our holistic wellbeing benefits. Below are just a few more examples of how we’re tailoring our benefits to meet the needs of our employees because we know that Nestlé is at its best when our employees are at their best.


A Focus on Emotional Wellbeing

Many of us are acutely aware of our physical health, but often our emotional wellbeing doesn’t get the attention it deserves. Our emotional wellbeing benefits are designed to help employees manage their mental health and find balance in work and life. As part of this package, we offer free subscriptions to meditation and wellness tracking apps HeadSpace and NeuroFlow – making it easy for employees to access the tools they need to feel fulfilled and well balanced.

We also offer access to virtual therapy through BetterHelp. We also offer a robust Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which gives employees the opportunity to access essential support for trying times that impact personal and working life, including relationship support, financial or legal advice, and other issues. The service is available day and night and is entirely confidential.


A Flexible Workplace

We believe in empowering employees to work from the place that best suits their needs. Our teams are creative, professional, skilled individuals who know what they need to succeed – that’s why we encourage employees to choose for themselves if they work from home or the office on any given day, depending on what is most productive.

We’ve reimagined our offices with an open seating model and team neighborhoods that encourage greater connections. We’ve also leveled up our digital capabilities, making it easier to collaborate between office meeting spaces and home offices as well as streamlining the planning of in-office working days.


Access to Education

Part of feeling fulfilled and developing an exciting career is the opportunity to learn and grow. We’re grateful for the skills our employees bring to the table – and we want to help them evolve further and find success in the future. To do this, we provide financial assistance for voluntary education and training that helps boost employees’ current job performance and prepare for career advancement. We also make the vast educational library of LinkedIn Learning available to every employee, so individuals can choose from a broad range of easy-access tools and expert advice.

This doesn’t just stop at our employees – we’re also helping their families thrive. Nestlé provides support for employee children for free or at a discounted rate.
